Christer Kontio

Head of Product and Innovation at Bluewater Group

Christer Kontio has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Christer began their career in 1985 at Saab Scania Military Aircraft Division, where they worked as both a Mechanical R&D Engineer and an Electronics R&D Engineer. Christer then joined Electrolux Floor Care & Small Appliances in 1987, where they held various roles including R&D Engineer, R&D Lead Engineer, CAD Manager, and R&D Manager. During their time at Electrolux, they managed teams of engineers and was responsible for product development, continuous improvement, and cost reduction programs. Christer also developed and launched innovative vacuum cleaner models with features such as True HEPA Filtration and cyclonic bagless technology. In 1996, Kontio transitioned to Electrolux Home Care Products, North America as the Manager of New Product Development, overseeing all R&D activities and product launches. In 2007, they moved to Electrolux's headquarters and took on the roles of Global Mechanics Development Manager and Global Process Development Manager in the Global R&D Dish Care department, where they were responsible for implementing new product development processes and managing cross-functional teams. Most recently, Kontio joined Bluewater Group in 2015 as the Head of Product and Innovation, focusing on product development and driving innovation within the company. Overall, they have demonstrated strong leadership and expertise in R&D, project management, and product innovation throughout their career.

Christer Kontio began their education in 1982 at Välkommaskolan, where they pursued a four-year mechanical engineering program. After completing their studies at Välkommaskolan, they went on to attend Luleå University of Technology in 1983 to further their education in mechanical engineering.
