Shelley Nickel currently serves as the Strategic Advisor for Higher Education at USG since July 2020. Previously, Shelley held significant roles including Executive Vice Chancellor for Strategy and Fiscal Affairs and Treasurer at the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. From June 2018 to July 2020, Shelley was the Interim President of Georgia Southern University. Additional experience includes serving as Vice Chancellor of Fiscal Affairs and Planning at the University System of Georgia and Interim President at Gordon College. Shelley has a strong background in higher education administration, notably leading the consolidation of eight USG institutions into four. Shelley earned a Bachelor of Science in Community Development and a Master’s in Public Administration from Penn State University.
