Ryan Varley

Ryan Varley has held a variety of roles in the tech industry since 2012. Ryan started their career as an Astrophysicist at University College London, where they used statistical techniques and signal processing to recover small noisy signals from planets outside the solar system. In 2015, they joined Science to Data Science as a Data Science Fellow and then moved to Growth Intelligence as a Data Scientist. At Growth Intelligence, they developed predictive models to optimise business-to-business marketing efforts for clients. In 2018, they joined Carbon (now part of Magnite) as Head of Data Science and Team Lead. In this role, they built and ran an agile, high morale, and highly productive data science team. Ryan also worked on data science and engineering projects from the early planning stages to production implementations. In 2021, they joined Boclips as VP Product Development and Head of Data Science.

Ryan Varley obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Astrophysics from UCL in 2016, following their MSci Natural Sciences in Astrophysics and Molecular and Cell Biology from UCL in 2012. Ryan also holds a certification from Pivigo's S2DS 2015 London, obtained in September 2015.
