Jill Lewandowski

Associate Director, Environmental Programs at Bureau of Ocean Energy Management

Jill Lewandowski, Ph.D., serves as the Director of the Division of Environmental Assessment and Center for Acoustics at the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, with extensive experience in environmental consultation and compliance with marine mammal protection regulations. Since joining the Bureau in February 2005, Jill has held various roles, including Chief of the Division of Environmental Assessment and Chief of the Branch of Environmental Consultation. Prior to this, Jill worked as a Protected Species Biologist, contributing technical expertise on the impacts of energy development on marine life. Jill's prior experience includes positions at NOAA and the National Wildlife Federation, focusing on marine conservation and program administration. Jill holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Virginia and both a Master's and Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Policy from George Mason University.

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, a bureau in the U.S. Department of the Interior, is the Federal agency that manages the nation's natural gas, oil and other mineral resources, and the development of offshore renewable energy on the outer continental shelf (OCS). The program is national in scope and is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
