Lisa Wu Fate

Lisa Wu Fate is the current General Counsel at Bold Penguin. Lisa has worked in the legal industry for over 20 years, with their most recent position being Assistant General Counsel at Nationwide from January 2009 to January 2020. In this role, they were responsible for drafting and negotiating complex contracts with external business partners, services agreements, and serving as liaison to resolve disputes. Lisa also leveraged their legal expertise in support of the Office of Investments as it relates to the Derivatives asset class, including legal and regulatory matters, day-to-day legal support, drafting contract amendments, and reviewing Derivatives Use Policy and counterparty insolvency analysis.

Prior to their work at Nationwide, Lisa Wu Fate worked at a number of other companies in various legal roles. Lisa has a wealth of experience in contract negotiation, corporate finance, and payments policy. In their previous positions, they have driven multi-year, enterprise-wide initiatives to design, communicate, and implement comprehensive payments policy to mitigate legal and regulatory risk. Lisa has also authored enterprise-wide payments policy, directed enterprise-wide committees responsible for implementation of new payments policy, and developed standardized forms in compliance with policy.

In their role as General Counsel at Bold Penguin, Lisa Wu Fate is responsible for providing legal support to the company as well as overseeing the Legal department. Lisa is also actively involved in Diversity & Inclusion initiatives, spearheading the D&I Quarterly newsletter and serving on the Communications and Nominations Committees.

Lisa Wu Fate has a J.D. from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from The Ohio State University. Lisa also has a certification from Duolingo in Duolingo Italian Fluency: Elementary (Estimated).
