Shawn Nussbaum

Shawn Nussbaum has an extensive work experience in technology and leadership roles. Shawn co-founded Bolster in 2020 and is currently serving as a Co-Founder. Prior to that, they worked at Return Path from 2010 to 2019, starting as a Software Engineer and progressing to roles such as Director of Engineering, VP of Engineering, and finally Chief Technology Officer. At Return Path, they led various teams and was responsible for scaling the organization, acquiring and divesting businesses, and leading a complex system migration to AWS.

Before Return Path, Shawn worked at The Open Companies, Inc. from 2002 to 2010 as the Director of Technology/Architect. Here, they designed and developed Open Leads, a sales-lead/CRM system, and managed a team while implementing a scalable architecture.

Prior to that, they co-founded Masterental.com, Inc. in 2000 and played a key role in multiple aspects of the startup process including prototype development, securing funding, building and marketing the product, and ultimately selling the company.

Shawn initially started their career in 1993 at Sharing Programs, where they served as a Computer Services Manager/Software Developer. Shawn managed software projects, designed and developed systems, and served as a technical advisor to a consortium of insurance companies.

In 1997, Shawn started their own independent consulting company, Shawn Nussbaum, Consultant, where they developed a reinsurance system for a group of mutual insurance companies and later expanded the services to include web and multimedia development.

Overall, Shawn Nussbaum has demonstrated strong leadership skills, a track record of scaling organizations, and expertise in software engineering, architecture design, and product development.

Shawn Nussbaum attended Goshen College starting in 1991. However, there is no information available regarding the degree obtained or the field of study pursued. In addition to their education, Shawn also obtained a certification as a Private Pilot - ASEL from the FAA in February 2019.
