Heidi Lypps has a diverse range of work experience spanning various industries. In 2002, they worked at the Center for Cognitive Liberty & Ethics as the Communications Director and Managing Editor. Heidi was responsible for print and web-based communications and played a key role in the production of the organization's journal. From 2004 to 2020, they worked at Girl Army Self-Defense as a self-defense teacher and curriculum developer. During this time, they developed and implemented self-defense programs. Heidi'smost recent role is at Bolt Threads, where they joined in 2018 as a Senior Engineering Mechanic and later became a Senior Mechanic, Engineering and Prototype and Reliability Engineer. Heidi'sresponsibilities included design assistance, prototype equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, technical documentation, and coordination with multiple teams.

Heidi Lypps obtained a Bachelor's degree in History from the University of California, Davis, from 1992 to 1997. Heidi also obtained a B.A. in History from the same university during the same period. Heidi has an additional degree, a BA in History, from the University of California, Davis, although the specific start and end years are unknown. In 2006, Heidi enrolled in the University of California, Berkeley Extension, but no degree information is available. Additionally, Heidi obtained a Forklift Operator certification from Big Joe Handling Systems in November 2018.
