Katie Elliott

Katie Elliott has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. Katie started their career in 2005 as an RN in the CVCU Stepdown Unit at CJW Medical Center, providing bedside care to post-op cardiac surgery patients. Katie worked there until 2007, during which they also served as a preceptor and charge nurse.

From 2007 to 2011, Katie worked as an RN and Clinical Nurse Expert in the Emergency Department at Henrico, Parham & Retreat Doctors' Hospitals. In this role, they provided care to patients, acted as a preceptor and charge nurse, and assisted with education and competencies.

In 2011, Katie returned to CJW Medical Center and took on multiple roles. Katie initially served as an RN and Clinical Nurse Expert in the Coronary Care Unit until 2013. In this position, they provided critical care to patients, acted as a preceptor and charge nurse, and provided education for staff. From 2013 to 2015, they served as the Clinical Coordinator in the Central Resource Pool, supervising RNs and CNAs, assisting with education and onboarding, and working closely with recruitment.

In 2015, Katie became the Interim Director of the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit at CJW Medical Center, managing the unit's day-to-day functions, collaborating with nursing administration and recruitment, and ensuring efficient unit staff scheduling. Katie held this position until 2016.

From 2015 to 2018, Katie also served as the Nursing Administrative Coordinator at CJW Medical Center, responsible for hospital throughput, staffing, and emergent situations. Katie worked with nursing units and central sterile to maintain hospital supplies and increased the FTE of the Central Resource Pool to decrease the use of facility contract labor.

In 2018, Katie transitioned to the role of Manager in the Progressive Care Unit at CJW Medical Center, managing scheduling and staffing, conducting daily patient rounding, and implementing procedures to prevent issues. During this time, they also took on the role of Director of Neurosciences at CJW Medical Center in 2023.

In 2019, Katie joined HCA Healthcare as an Educator in the Clinical Professional Development Education Center for Clinical Advancement. Katie was responsible for providing education for various units and reviewing education requests and initiatives to streamline processes throughout the Capital Division. Katie held this position until 2021.

Finally, in 2021, Katie became the Administrative Director of Nursing Operations at Bon Secours Mercy Health. Their responsibilities included overseeing unit management teams, patient experience scores, productivity, and nurse leader rounding for multiple inpatient units and emergency departments.

Prior to their Masters programs, they earned a Bachelors Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Nursing Education, which they completed in 2005.
