Jinho Heo

Jinho Heo has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Jinho is currently a Principal Scientist - Enzyme Development at Bonumose Inc. starting from May 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Research Scientist at the University of Virginia, where they conducted various research projects, including developing and optimizing screening assays, investigating the mechanism of action for pharmaceutical inhibitors, and demonstrating selective toxicity in cancer cells. Jinho also worked as a Research Associate at the same university before their promotion.

Before joining the University of Virginia, Jinho Heo was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where they made significant contributions to the field of DNA repair by identifying the role of Tyrosyl-DNA phosphodiesterase and short open reading frame-encoded polypeptides. Jinho also trained and supervised research technicians and graduate students during their tenure.

Jinho Heo began their research career as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Jinho'swork focused on human cytomegalovirus and genetic analysis of viral chemokines. Prior to their graduate studies, they worked as a Research Assistant at the Korea Science and Engineering Foundation.

Jinho Heo pursued their education in various renowned institutions. Jinho began their academic journey at Gyeongsang National University in 1993, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Agricultural Biology in 2010. Following this, they attended Yonsei University from 2001 to 2003 and earned a Master of Science (M.S.) in Biology. Finally, in 2005, they joined the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where they completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Microbiology in 2010.
