Booker T. Washington Academy is a tuition-free public charter school serving grades K-8 in New Haven.  

At Booker T. Washington Academy, we prepare our scholars for college and beyond through a mission inspired by Booker T. Washington’s credo: "Excellence is doing common things in uncommon ways."

We are educators and staff committed to providing a safe, nurturing and challenging learning environment with the aim of producing responsible and productive citizens prepared to successfully compete in the global marketplace. To deliver on that promise, we employ a variety of approaches, including: 
- a rigorous and challenging curriculum geared towards developing strong readers, writers, and problem solvers.
- a low teacher-student ratio of 1:10, with classes not exceeding 22 scholars.
- an actively engaged PTO and supportive community of partnering organizations.
