April Surac is a research intern at Stanford University, specializing in neurotechnology and medical research, where she published research under the Stanford Compression Forum to advance cancer therapeutics by optimizing computational drug discovery for oncology. As founder and CEO of Bookoli, supported by Microsoft for Startups, April aims to provide accessible AI-driven solutions for individuals with reading difficulties, leading literacy advocacy projects across Florida and receiving multiple accolades for her work. April also founded NeuroSensa, a neurotechnology company that merges embroidery, neurotech, and multisensory experiences to create innovative and accessible art. Her work, exhibited in prominent galleries from Winter Garden and Miami to New York City, Rome, and London, advocates for making art more inclusive, while pushing the boundaries of creativity through technology-driven, immersive installations designed to engage neurodiverse individuals and underserved communities. In 2024, April was selected as a TechGirl finalist, one of 17 U.S. representatives out of 129 international ambassadors from over 6,000 applicants worldwide. As a TechGirl ambassador, she participated in advanced robotics education at Virginia Tech, advocated for young women in technology, and delivered talks to tech leaders from Microsoft, Google, Oracle, the U.S. Department of Education, and NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. April plans to major in electrical engineering and neuroscience, aiming to contribute to neurotechnology innovations in brain-computer interfaces and neuroprosthetics. She also runs her creative studio at SuracStudios.com.
