Gretchen McClain

Gretchen McClain joined Booz Allen’s board in 2014. Previously, she served as president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Xylem Inc. She joined Xylem as the founding CEO in 2011 when it was formed and taken public from the spinoff of ITT Corporation’s water business. She joined ITT in 2005 as the president of the company’s residential and commercial water business. Gretchen also served in a number of senior executive positions at Honeywell Aerospace, including vice president and general manager of the business, General Aviation and Helicopters Electronics division, and vice president for engineering and technology as well as for program management in Honeywell Aerospace’s Engines, Systems and Services division.

Earlier in her career, Gretchen joined AlliedSignal in 1999, which later merged with Honeywell. She also spent 9 years with NASA serving as deputy associate administrator for space development. There she was pivotal in the successful development and launch of the International Space Station Program as chief director of the space station, and deputy director for space flight.

Gretchen graduated from University of Utah with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. She currently serves on the board of directors of AMETEK, Boart Longyear Limited and J.M. Huber Corporation (a family-owned business). Gretchen is the chair of our Compensation Committee and a member of our Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.
