Mark Shanahan writes a daily column focused on entertainment and pop culture, and longer pieces about folks in the fields of music, movies, literature, and the arts generally. He has been at the Boston Globe since 2003 and before that at the Portland Press Herald, where he was a political reporter and a features writer. He grew in western Mass., where his father was the editor of a local newspaper, and he developed a keen interest in news and storytelling. He attended Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. He is married with two fantastic children, Julia and Beckett.
