Joe McDonnell

Joe McDonnell, CFA, currently serves as Chief Investment Officer at Border To Coast Pensions Partnership since January 2023. Prior to this role, McDonnell held the position of Managing Director and Head of Portfolio Solutions at Neuberger Berman from February 2019 to January 2023, overseeing quantitative and multi-asset investment capabilities across EMEA. McDonnell also worked at Morgan Stanley as Managing Director - Head of Solutions & Diversified Alternatives from February 2008 to December 2018, managing the EMEA Portfolio Solutions team. Earlier experience includes serving as Head of Investments at Shell, where McDonnell led the establishment of the Shell Asset Management Company, and as Head Of Fixed Income at IBM Retirement Funds, managing international fixed income portfolios. McDonnell earned a Master's degree in Economics from The University of Sheffield and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
