Alpen Sheth, Ph.D. has an extensive work experience in the field of blockchain and cryptocurrency. From 2012 to 2021, they have worked in various roles with different companies. Alpen began their career as a PhD Researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In 2016, they co-founded the Economic Space Agency, where they served as the Chief Strategy Officer and Board Treasurer. In 2018, they became a Founding Advisor at Raincoat and a Product Manager at Etherisc. In 2019, they joined Mercy Corps as a Senior Technologist, Blockchain, and also became a Board Member of the Social Impact Advisory and Council Member of the Diem Association. In 2020, they became a Strategic Advisor at Mercy Corps Ventures, where they co-founded and lead FinX, an initiative to accelerate universal financial inclusion with crypto and blockchain-based products and services. Alpen also served as a Council Member of the Digital Currency Governance Committee and the Global Future Council, Cryptocurrency at the World Economic Forum. In 2021, they joined Borderless Capital as a Partner & Head of Policy and Research and a Senior Principal, Head of Policy & Research.

Alpen Sheth, Ph.D. obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Chicago. Alpen then went on to receive a Master's Degree in Economic Geography from the University of Miami. In 2011, Sheth began their Ph.D. in International Development at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which they completed in 2017. In 2005, Sheth also obtained a certificate in Architecture Summer Career Development from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
