Robert Playter is an accomplished aerospace engineer and business leader with extensive experience in the robotics and technology sectors. Currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer and previously as Chief Operating Officer at Boston Dynamics since February 2018, Playter has played a pivotal role in the company's growth and innovation. Prior to this, Playter held the position of Director at Google from December 2013 to February 2018 and served as Vice President of Engineering at Boston Dynamics from 1994 to 2012. Early career experience includes a role as a Research Scientist at Honeywell FM&T from 1988 to 1990. Playter holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and a Master of Science (MS) in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, along with a Bachelor's degree in the same field from The Ohio State University.
