Yue Shi has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. They started their career as a Consulting Intern at Quanta Technology, LLC in 2015. Then, in 2016, they worked as an R&D Intern at GE Grid Solutions.
In 2017, Yue Shi joined ABB, where they initially served as a Consulting Intern for seven months before becoming a Consultant from January 2018 to October 2019.
From 2013 to 2017, Yue Shi worked as a Graduate Research Associate at FREEDM Systems Center-ERC NSF, where they conducted research in their field.
In 2019, Yue Shi joined EDF Trading, starting as a Nodal Analyst responsible for transmission congestion analysis, Python tool development, and power system model calibration. From January 2021 to April 2022, they assumed the role of Senior Nodal Analyst, focusing on studying electric power market fundamentals, developing FTR trading strategies, and exploring machine learning applications.
Currently, since June 2022, Yue Shi works at Boston Energy Trading and Marketing as a Trading Analyst, where they maintain cost production models and forecast congestions for SPP.
Yue Shi obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Electrical Engineering and Automation from Tianjin University, where they studied from 2008 to 2012. Yue then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Major Electrical and Engineering with a minor in Statistics at North Carolina State University from 2012 to 2014. Following this, Yue Shi earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University, completing their studies from 2014 to 2018.
In addition to their formal education, Yue Shi has obtained several certifications. Yue received a Renewable Electric Energy Systems Graduate Certificate from North Carolina State University in May 2016. Yue Shi also completed various online courses, including "Neural Networks and Deep Learning" from Coursera in June 2021, "Blockchain and Bitcoin Fundamentals" from Udemy in July 2018, "Using Python to Access Web Data by University of Michigan on Coursera" in June 2018, "Using Databases with Python by University of Michigan on Coursera" in May 2018, and "Electric Industry Operations and Markets by Duke University on Coursera" in February 2018. Furthermore, they attended the "GridEd Short Course Distribution Volt-Var Planning and Control" offered by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) in August 2017.
