Joseph Boales

Joseph Boales has a diverse range of work experience. Joseph is currently working as a Senior Engineer at Boston Micromachines Corp since October 2020. Prior to this, they served as an Optical Engineer at PLYMOUTH GRATING LABORATORY, INC. from August 2018 to October 2020.

Joseph also has extensive experience at Boston University, where they held multiple roles. From June 2014 to August 2018, they worked as a Physics Research Assistant. In this role, they developed and utilized new methods for characterizing nonlinear materials in RF devices, conducted experiments in fundamental physics, and collaborated with researchers from different fields. Additionally, they served as a Physics Graduate Teaching Fellow from September 2013 to June 2016, providing teaching support to students.

Earlier in their career, Joseph gained experience in different industries. Joseph worked as a Drexel Learning Center Tutor at Drexel University from October 2011 to June 2013, where they provided tutoring and academic support to students. Joseph also had engineering-related co-op experiences at PBF Energy, Max Levy Autograph, Inc., and Princeton Plasma Physics Lab.

Joseph Boales attended Drexel University from 2008 to 2013, where they obtained dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Physics and Mechanical Engineering. Joseph then pursued further studies at Boston University from 2013 to 2016, earning a Master of Arts degree in Physics. Continuing their academic journey at Boston University, Joseph completed their education in 2018 by obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Physics.
