Eric Svensson

Chief Medical Officer at Boston Pharmaceuticals

Eric Svensson joined Boston Pharmaceuticals in 2021 as Senior Vice President and Head of Translational Research before assuming the role of Chief Medical Officer. Previously, Eric was an Executive Director and Therapeutic Area Head for heart failure and arrhythmia programs within Translational Medicine at the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research. At NIBR, he worked with teams of basic researchers and clinical scientists to transition promising cardiovascular and metabolic therapeutics from the lab into phase 1 and phase 2 clinical trials.

Prior to industry, Eric was an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Section of Cardiology at the University of Chicago, where his NIH-funded research program focused on elucidating the molecular mechanisms regulating cardiac development. He also practiced clinical cardiology, specializing in the care of adults with congenital heart disease. While at the University of Chicago, Eric served as a mentor to the next generation of physician-scientists, establishing and directing the Physician Scientist Development Program, a program designed to provide further clinical and research training to graduates of MD/Ph.D. programs.
