Jacques Mauger

Jacques Mauger has extensive work experience in the field of medicinal chemistry. Jacques currently holds the position of Senior Director of Medicinal Chemistry at Boundless Bio since September 2020. Prior to this, they also worked as a Senior Director of Medicinal Chemistry at ICAGEN from December 2018 to July 2020.

Before joining ICAGEN, Mauger had a long tenure at Sanofi, starting in May 2001 and ending in July 2016. At Sanofi, they held the role of Lead Research Investigator II - Group Leader and was responsible for the drug discovery process, from hit identification to preclinical candidate selection. Jacques worked closely with biologists to optimize small molecules, ensuring their potency, physicochemical properties, and desired pharmacological effects. Jacques also collaboratively worked with different research teams within and outside the company.

Prior to their time at Sanofi, Mauger worked as a Lab Head at Sanofi Aventis from January 1995 to May 2001. In this role, they managed a lab in the department of parallel synthesis, supporting medicinal chemistry projects, particularly in the domain of bone disease. Jacques was involved in the development of new technologies to increase chemistry throughput.

Mauger's earliest work experience was as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Kyoto University from September 1988 to October 1999. Jacques'sresearch focused on identifying microorganisms capable of processing nitrile-containing chemicals from soils. Jacques isolated, purified, and characterized enzymes responsible for chemical transformations and analyzed their substrate specificity.
