Krista Medhurst

Associate Dean, School Of Foundational Learning, Literacy & Essential Skills at BOW VALLEY COLLEGE

Krista Medhurst is the Associate Dean of Literacy and Essential Skills in the School of Foundational Learning. Krista brings over 15 years of experience at Bow Valley College as a leader in the area of literacy and essential skills. She has worked at the College since 2004 in various project and leadership roles in the School of Continuing Learning, Research and Innovation, and the TOWES and Career Advancement Centre.

Krista’s career has focused on developing, researching, and implementing innovative approaches to skills development in the areas of literacy, workplace essential skills, and competency-based education and training. She has advised and collaborated with organizations from across Canada, spanning post-secondary education, industry, government and apprenticeship, on strategies for assessing and improving literacy and essential skills. As an applied research advocate, she has participated in several large-scale literacy and essential skills initiatives in the role of researcher, project director and advisory committee member.

Krista holds a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Sociology from the University of Calgary. She is currently pursuing a Master of Education in Adult Community and Higher Education at the University of Calgary. Krista is also a nationally accredited Essential Skills Analyst.
