Margaret Toye

Associate Dean, Extended Education at BOW VALLEY COLLEGE

Dr. Margaret Toye is the Associate Dean of Extended Education. Margaret’s career has focused on both post-secondary instruction and administration.

Her academic career started at Queen’s University, Belfast, where she taught Linguistics courses, and she then held a lecturer position in the School of English Language and Linguistics at Bangor University, Wales. She returned to her hometown of Calgary to work at Bow Valley College’s Continuing Education department in 2009. Two years later she moved into the role of lead instructor, Academic Service Courses in the Health and Community Care department, a position that transitioned into program coordinator of Social Sciences and Humanities in the School of Community Studies.

Margaret has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from the University of Calgary. She has a Master of Arts in Cultural Studies from Lancaster University, in England. Margaret obtained her Doctor of Philosophy in Linguistics from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
