Gary Lam is an experienced professional with extensive expertise in counselling, support services, and child welfare. Currently serving as the Director of Counselling and Support Services at BGC South Coast BC since June 2013, Gary oversees programs including Substance Abuse Services and Family Counselling. Previous roles include Senior Coordinator of Youth and Family Counselling and Coordinator of the Annex Youth Counselling Team, where Gary managed program development and compliance with Ministry requirements. Gary's career also includes a directorial position at WuLam Properties, a coordinator position at the Canadian Cancer Society, and work as a Special Education Assistant for the Vancouver School Board. Gary holds a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care from the University of Victoria and has a background as a Certified Child Life Specialist.

BGC South Coast BC serves 10,000 children, youth, and families annually through our four program streams: Clubs, Camp, Counselling, and Employment. Our eleven neighbourhood Clubs give kids a safe place that provides them with three things they need most: a sense of belonging, a sense of success, and positive relationships. Our Camp Potlach offers a summer wilderness camping adventure, which is second to none. Our Counselling programs provide substance use services and support to some of the most vulnerable youth in our community, as well as counselling and essential programs to families. Our Employment services provide coaching, job readiness training, and one-to-one support for youth.
