Shamel Akins has a diverse work experience in various roles related to youth advocacy and recreation. They began their career as a Program Aide at Boys & Girls Club in 2012 and then worked as a Recreation Assistant at Arbor Glen Outreach Facility in 2014. In the following years, Shamel served as a Unit Director at Boys & Girls Clubs of America and as a Recreation Specialist at Southview Recreation Center, Mecklenburg County, and The City of Orlando, where they organized and directed recreation and leisure programs for different age groups.
