Anar Valiyev

Anar Valiyev is a seasoned professional in process safety engineering with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry. Currently serving as Group Senior Adviser for Process Safety Engineering at bp since September 2025, Anar provides technical leadership and directs global standardization efforts. Prior to this role, Anar held the position of Principal Process Safety Authority at Anglo American from February 2022 to August 2025, where responsibilities included defining and managing the corporate Process Safety Management framework. Anar's previous tenure at bp from July 2007 to January 2022 included various leadership roles, notably as Regional Engineering Manager, overseeing a large team and ensuring technical assurance and safety across multiple installations. Anar's academic credentials include a Master of Science in Process Safety and Loss Prevention from The University of Sheffield, an MBA in Computer Information Systems, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Manufacturing Processes Automation, both from Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University.
