Marco de Koning

Marco de Koning is a seasoned maritime professional currently serving as Vetting & Clearing Superintendent at BP. Previously, they held various positions including Captain and Chief Officer at BP Shipping from 2014 to 2020, and served as a Second Officer and Chief Officer at ExxonMobil from 1997 to 2007. Marco began their maritime career as a Deck Cadet at Portnet from 1993 to 1996 and has subsequently gained extensive experience in maritime operations with multiple prominent shipping companies. Marco holds a Higher National Diploma in Nautical Science from South Tyneside College and National Diplomas in Marine Studies from the Durban Institute of Technology.
