William W. Flanz

Mr. Flanz began working with BPEA in 2003. Previously, Mr. Flanz was the Chief Executive Officer of Sterling Enterprises Limited, a large Hong Kong based family investment office. Mr. Flanz began his career with Chase Manhattan Bank N. A., where he served as Country Manager for Japan, Area Director for the Middle East and North Africa, and was later appointed Area Director, responsible for all of Chase’s activities in Asia Pacific. Mr. Flanz was a founding partner of the private equity firm, Prudential Asia Investments Limited, and subsequently was a member of the Management Committee of London-based private equity firm, Investcorp International Limited. He then served as Chairman and CEO of Gucci Group, N.V., prior to returning to Hong Kong from Italy in 1996, following Gucci’s turnaround and successful IPO. He also served as Chairman of the Investment Advisory Committee for the pension fund of Supervalu, the large Minneapolis based supermarket group from 2005 through 2013. Mr. Flanz serves as Senior Advisor and Chairman of the Investment Committee of Fung Investment Management Ltd, responsible for managing the private assets of a leading Hong Kong family. He is a Trustee and Member of the Executive Council of the World Wide Fund for Nature Hong Kong.

Mr. Flanz graduated from New York University with a B.A. in Economics and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan.
