Keith (Ron) Derrington has drafted and prosecuted more than 500 patent applications, with patent subject matter including mechanical, chemical, electrical, software and medical devices.

Ron has experience counseling clients in matters concerning existing patents, as well as developing strategies for the protection of intellectual property. He also participates in due diligence activities and negotiations for intellectual property matters related to mergers and acquisitions. In addition, Ron counsels U.S. and international clients in worldwide intellectual property ownership in the energy, oil and gas, transportation and aerospace and defense industries.

He has prepared numerous opinions relating to patentability, infringement, validity and freedom to operate. Ron’s ability to interact well with inventors emanates from his previous engineering experience as a licensed professional engineer. Prior to entering the legal field, Ron worked for 10 years as both an engineer in the design field and as a reliability engineer. While working as a reliability engineer, Ron provided technical engineering support for the Orbiter portion of the NASA Space Transportation System.
