About the Head of Branch Data Office role The Branch Data Office provides verified business information through self-service tools so that Branch departments can make efficient and effective business decisions. The Head of the Branch Data Office will be in charge of running strategy and coordinating tactics for the primary responsibilities of the Data Office:

  • Identify, develop, organize, and retain the necessary talent within the Branch Data Office to meet its mission

  • Develop and define the core data and related documentation that the data office manages and supports

  • Select, manage, update, and build certification and training programs on self-service tools that are used to interact with the core data

  • Proactively monitor quality (unwanted changes, defects) in the core data and fix them promptly

  • Select, manage, and support bringing data into the data lake/warehouse via managed systems (e.g., Fivetran, Make.com, cron jobs)

We have built out our data team with analysts of all experiences and backgrounds, who wish to work on teams that are collaborative and empathetic. We have more inexperienced analysts than experienced ones, and are seeking to make even better the coaching and mentoring we provide to them. We have two excellent leader/managers currently running the data team who will appreciate the additional technical and executive expertise from this hire.

We seek someone who:

  • Has experience in designing and managing a software development organization that uses CI/CD, automated testing, and collaborative code review as a quality and coaching tool

  • Has designed and implemented relational database schemas and/or data warehouses

  • Has been a data architect or has closely managed data architects

  • Has experience leading a division within a service organization, managing business targets, managing expectations from business stakeholders, and managing talent.

  • Enjoys building and running a service organization

  • Enjoys coaching and building talent at all levels

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Branch Data Office and its key responsibilities as a service organization within Branch

  • Foster the development and overall skills of analysts at Branch

  • Review the practices of members of the analysts at Branch to ensure that we maintain high quality and high knowledge across all analyst

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • Three (3) or more years of experience managing technical team(s) with modern software development practices

  • Two (2) or more years of experience working as a service organization leader in a fast-growing company

  • One (1) or more years of experience with optimizing databases for optimal data storage (e.g., 3NF) as well as for optimal data retrieval cases (e.g., denormalized/materialized tables)

  • Interest in running the data office at a fast-growing company
