David Young

Associate Fellow - Head Of Pathway Discovery at Braskem America

David Young has extensive work experience in the field of biotechnology and biosciences. David is currently working as the Associate Fellow and Head of Pathway Discovery at Braskem America since 2022. Before joining Braskem America, they worked at Ginkgo Bioworks, Inc. as the Associate Head of Microbial Engineering and later as the Senior Program Director and Program Director of Organism Engineering from 2016 to 2021. Prior to that, they worked as a Project Manager at Greenlight Biosciences Inc. from 2014 to 2016 and as the Director of Production and Senior Scientist at Pronutria from 2011 to 2014. David also has experience working at DSM-Microbia as a Senior Scientist and Project Manager from 2006 to 2011. Early in their career, David served as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Harvard Medical School from 2001 to 2006 and as a Graduate Student at Yale University from 1994 to 2001.

David Young completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Viterbo University from 1989 to 1991. David then pursued a Master of Science degree in Microbiology at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse from 1991 to 1994. Finally, they earned their Ph.D. in Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology from Yale University, where they attended from 1994 to 2001.
