Daniel C. Bruck

Dan has been a consultant in architectural and environmental acoustics for more than 20 years and has served as president of BRC since 1995.

Dan’s technical specialties are architectural acoustics design and environmental noise control, with projects that include auditoriums, industrial facilities, recording studios, schools, and performing arts facilities. His expertise also includes noise/vibration control and sound isolation for a wide range of industrial and commercial projects. He has provided expert witness testimony for a range of projects involving architectural, land use, and environmental issues.

Dan has served on the faculties of Cornish College of the Arts, the Art Institute of Seattle, and Bellevue College, and he guest lectures at Seattle Pacific University and Washington State University. His research includes concert hall acoustics from the performer’s perspective and studies of loudness perception. Dan was instrumental in the development of acoustics credits for the U.S. Green Building Council as Chair of the Acoustics Working Group, and he served as Chair for the Interior Environmental Quality Technical Advisory Group (TAG). He was a key contributor to the acoustical section and credits in the Washington Sustainable Schools Protocol (WSSP) and was a member of the working group that developed the ANSI Standard 12.60 – 2002 for acoustical design in schools. He was also a workshop participant and invited contributor to “Sound Matters — Acoustical Solutions for the Modern Office,” a General Services Administration (GSA) guiding document for office acoustics. He is a frequent contributor to technical publications, professional and technical society conferences, and continuing education programs for architects and other design professionals.
