Breakthrough T1D
Alan Chiu is an accomplished research scientist with extensive experience in academia and the biopharmaceutical industry. Currently at Breakthrough T1D since July 2024, Alan focuses on funding research in Type 1 Diabetes, particularly in immunotherapies and cellular therapies. Previously, Alan held positions as Scientist II and Scientist I at Volastra Therapeutics, leading drug development and target discovery efforts. Alan's academic background includes a Ph.D. from Cornell University, where research in cell encapsulation technologies resulted in multiple publications and patents. Additional experience includes roles at esteemed institutions such as Stanford University, MIT, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Harvard University, contributing to significant advancements in cancer modeling, in vivo techniques, and veterinary care.
