Genesis has over 10 years of experience in the health and technology industries. Genesis is currently a guest editor for the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. Prior to this, they served as the Chief Scientific Officer for BreatheSuite, an online lung health monitoring service, where they were responsible for business development, product strategy, and marketing. Genesis also previously worked as an advisor for Blue Mesa Health, which was acquired by Virgin Pulse in 2018. Prior to their work in the health industry, Genesis was a software engineer and web developer for various companies, including the University of Michigan. In 2009, they founded Alwashmi Consulting, a web development consultancy.
Genesis has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Digital Health from Memorial University of Newfoundland, a Certificate in Health Care Economics and Clinical Epidemiology from Harvard University, and a Master's degree in Clinical Epidemiology from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Genesis also has certification from Nature Research (Publishing) in Masterclass in Scientific Writing and Publishing, Stanford University in Designing Mixed Methods Research Projects, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) in Tri-Council Policy: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans Certification, UN Women in Building Gender IQ, Memorial University of Newfoundland in Certificate of Distinction, the Saudi Student Association in Certificate of Recognition, and the Genesis Centre in Genesis Evolution Program. Finally, Genesis has a Certificate of Achievement from the Saudi Arabian Cultural Bureau, Ottawa, Canada.
