Hannes Bend has a diverse work experience that spans several industries and areas of expertise. In 2013, they worked as an Organizer and Advisor at the University of Michigan- School for Environment and Sustainability. From 2014 to 2016, they were a Visiting Scholar Quantum and Nanoscale Physics Alemán Lab and Artist-in-Residence at the University of Oregon, where they conducted various research projects and developed virtual reality programs. Hannes also worked as a Technologist and Artist-in-Residence at ThoughtWorks in 2017, creating an open-source framework combining biosensors with simulations. In 2018, Hannes founded breathing.ai, a company that provides personalized relaxing screen experiences. Hannes also served as a Member and Science Sandbox Fellow at the New Museum of Contemporary Art. Additionally, Hannes worked as a Technologist and Artist at Miami-Dade County, creating a virtual reality biofeedback program. In 2020, they initiated and led the management of Vital Sign AI, a project exploring remote vital sign detection to predict early symptoms of COVID-19. Finally, Hannes has been a Meditation, Yoga, and Breathing Teacher since 2014, guiding sessions at various notable places and conferences.
Hannes Bend attended the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weissensee from 2001 to 2007. Hannes obtained a Diploma, which was considered equivalent to a Master's degree in Germany at that time. Hannes'sfield of study was Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management.
