Joseph Jackson Briscoe, IV

Mr. Briscoe graduated magna cum laude with a double major in Speech Communication and Journalism from Pepperdine University, where he was a disc jockey, wrote for the school newspaper and served as the Student Government Treasurer. He obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1982, after which he worked for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee and then as a lobbyist.

Mr. Briscoe started his legal career in 1985 at Shield and Smith, the largest and oldest insurance defense firm in Los Angeles at the time. In 1991, Jack was a founding partner in the insurance defense law firm of Gibeaut, Mahan and Briscoe. Upon the retirement of his former partners, Mr. Briscoe joined Bremer Whyte Brown and O’Meara in March of 2017.

In addition to his trial experience, Mr. Briscoe is a huge proponent of, and very well versed in, all forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution, has served as an arbitrator and mediator for the County of Los Angeles Superior Court and the American Arbitration Association, and has completed Pepperdine’s prestigious Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution Mediating the Litigated Case course. Mr. Briscoe is licensed to practice before all courts in the State of California and has argued cases before the California Court of Appeal.
