Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics (BEAM)
The Art of Problem Solving Initiative (originally the Art of Problem Solving Foundation) promotes and provides opportunities for middle and high school students to explore mathematical problem-solving. Our flagship program is Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics (BEAM). BEAM works with underserved students with high potential in mathematics to build realistic pathways for them to become scientists, mathematicians, engineers, and programmers. BEAM offers a summer program after 6th grade and a residential summer program after 7th grade, as well as year-round support and weekend programming extending into college. Our goal is to connect our students to the same resources for advanced study that more affluent students receive. BEAM students have gone on to top high schools, universities, and enrichment programs. For more information, visit the BEAM website at www.beammath.org. In addition to BEAM, AoPSI also runs the USA Mathematical Talent Search, a national mail-in proof-based math contest where students have a month to complete five challenging problems in each round. For more information, visit the USAMTS website at www.usamts.org.
