Benjamin Blum-Smith

Mathematician-in-residence at Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics (BEAM)

Benjamin Blum-Smith currently serves as an Assistant Research Scientist and Postdoctoral Fellow at The Johns Hopkins University since May 2022. Additionally, Benjamin holds the position of Mathematician-in-Residence at Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics (BEAM) since August 2021. Previous roles include professional development with Math for America from 2010 to December 2020, teaching at Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics from 2013 to 2017, faculty member in the MAT Program at Bard College during 2010-2011, and consulting for UFT Secondary Charter School from 2009 to 2010. Teaching experience also encompasses positions at East Side Community High School, Cambridge Public Schools, and Boston Arts Academy. Benjamin earned a PhD in Mathematics from New York University in 2017, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Tufts University in 2001, and a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology from Yale University in 2000.
