Diane Thompson has a varied work experience spanning several companies and roles. Diane began their career in 1992 as an Attorney in the Civil Division at Pima County. In 1996, they served as the Director of Operations at Animal Foundation International. Diane then joined Apollo Education Group in 1997, where they held various positions such as Human Resources Manager, Director of Human Resources, Vice President & Counsel, and ultimately Chief Human Resources Officer until 2008. From 2008 to 2015, Diane worked at Bridgepoint Education, initially as the SVP Secretary & General Counsel and later as the EVP Secretary and General Counsel. Overall, Diane has over 25 years of experience in both legal and human resources roles.

Diane Thompson obtained their Bachelor's degree in Special Education and Teaching from St. Cloud State University, which they attended from 1974 to 1979. Diane then pursued further education at Antioch University and earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Women's Studies between 1983 and 1985. Later, they attended the Arizona School of Law from 1989 to 1992, where they obtained a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree.
