Haipeng (Mark) Zhang, DO, MMSc, FAMIA, currently holds the position of Chief Innovation Officer at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, leading the Office of Healthcare Innovation and Learning since January 2024. As President and Founder of the American Medical Extended Reality Association (AMXRA) and Co-Founder of Cake, an end-of-life planning platform, Zhang has demonstrated a commitment to innovation in healthcare. With a robust background in palliative care and clinical informatics, Zhang has served as a consultant and fellow at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and held various roles at Brigham and Women's Hospital, including Associate Chief Medical Information Officer. Zhang's educational credentials include a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and a Master of Medical Science in Biomedical Informatics from Harvard Medical School.
