Cheryl Stanton has accumulated extensive work experience in the legal field and government administration. Cheryl is currently serving as the Chief Legal and Government Affairs Officer at BrightStar Care since April 2021. Prior to this, they worked at the U.S. Department of Labor as the Administrator of the Wage and Hour Division from April 2019 to January 2021. During their tenure, they successfully implemented strategic initiatives, resulting in the collection of $681 million, the largest amount in the division's history, and improved H2B visa enforcement efficiencies by 17%.

In 2019, Cheryl Stanton briefly served as a Senior Advisor to the Chief of Staff at the Social Security Administration. Before that, they were the Executive Director of the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce from June 2013 to December 2018. In this role, they administered the state's unemployment insurance program and various Department of Labor workforce development grants. Cheryl initiated numerous business process improvements and focused on returning the agency to full compliance with federally mandated performance requirements.

Prior to their government roles, Cheryl Stanton worked as a Shareholder and General Counsel at Ogletree Deakins from July 2008 to June 2013. Cheryl specialized in management-side labor and employment law, focusing on wage/hour, class action defense, and discrimination/harassment cases. Cheryl also acted as lead attorney on appeals to the Court of Appeals for the Third and Fourth Circuits and enforced non-competition and non-solicitation obligations.

From November 2006 to May 2008, Cheryl Stanton served as an Associate Counsel and Special Assistant to the President at the Executive Office of the President. Cheryl acted as a legal liaison to various government departments and agencies, provided legal advice on personnel matters, and served on the White House Judicial Selection Committee.

Before joining the government, they worked at Ogletree Deakins as a Shareholder and Associate from January 2002 to October 2006, defending employers against discrimination and harassment allegations. Cheryl also enforced non-competition and non-solicitation obligations and provided counsel on employment-related matters.

Earlier in their career, Cheryl Stanton worked as an Associate at Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP, representing employers in discrimination and harassment cases and drafting employment and separation agreements. Cheryl also worked as an Associate at Mayer Brown and Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, gaining experience in various aspects of employment law.

Cheryl Stanton completed their Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Psychology and American Studies at Williams College from 1990 to 1994. Cheryl proceeded to enroll at the University of Chicago Law School, where they obtained their Juris Doctorate (JD) degree in Law from 1994 to 1997.
