Joe Hellerstein

Joe Hellerstein is a distinguished academic and entrepreneur serving as the Jim Gray Professor of Computer Science at UC Berkeley since 1995. Hellerstein co-founded RunLLM in September 2020 and has held the position of Fellow at Sutter Hill Ventures since September 2021. As a Technical Advisor, Hellerstein contributes to Visual Layer, Brim Data, and Acryl Data, all roles initiated in 2022 or 2021. Hellerstein was the Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Trifacta from 2012 to February 2022 and co-directed the Berkeley RISE Lab from January 2017 to January 2022. Hellerstein's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master’s from UC Berkeley, with an undergraduate degree from Harvard University.
