James Dowling is an accomplished community manager with extensive experience in sports and community program development. Currently serving as Community Manager for Brisbane Lions since February 2019, James also holds the position of Program Manager for the Connecting Through Sport initiative at Multicultural Australia, which fosters inclusivity for refugees, migrants, and women in sports. Previous roles include OTLR Program Coordinator at Outside the Locker Room, overseeing mental health education access, and Community Club Development Manager at the Australian Football League, managing 34 clubs and facilitating grants and sponsorship initiatives. Early career experience at Kmart Australia Limited included awards for high performance and customer service, contributing to operational excellence. The Brisbane Lions are an Australian Rules Football Club which participates in the Australian Football League (AFL) and was formed from the merger of the Brisbane Bears and the Fitzroy Lions in 1996. The club appeared in four consecutive AFL Grand Finals between 2001 and 2004, winning three (2001, 2002 and 2003) to become one of the most successful teams of the modern era. They also boast one of the most successful AFLW teams since the competitions inception, playing in four grand finals, and winning one Premiership in 2021.
