Jean Candler

Jean Candler has extensive experience in policy, strategy, and communications, currently serving as the Head of Policy, Strategy and Communications at Bristol City Council since September 2017. Previous roles at Bristol City Council include Head of Policy and Public Affairs and Policy, Public Affairs, Strategy and Equalities Manager. Prior experience includes multiple positions at the Royal Bank of Scotland from March 2013 to August 2017, where responsibilities spanned sustainability and corporate media relations. Jean also held leadership roles in public affairs at Million+ and the British Institute of Human Rights, as well as advocacy positions at Concern Worldwide and Comitato Collaborazione Medica. Early career experience includes serving as a Senior Media Officer at the Refugee Council. Jean holds a Master of Arts in Human Rights from the University of London and a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Sociology from the University of Leeds.
