Erik Jonsson is a Senior Scientist at Bristol Myers Squibb since 2022, with prior experience as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of California, Berkeley from 2015 to 2021. At Berkeley, Erik Jonsson engineered a custom single-molecule TIRF microscope, revealing a novel mechanism of allosteric regulation in the 26S proteasome, contributing to ongoing research on bioRxiv. Jonsson utilized single-molecule FRET to visualize the dynamics of substrate proteins within the proteasome, marking the first direct measurements of proteasomal conformational changes and factors influencing these dynamics. Comprehensive skills in microscopy, hardware, software, and biochemistry were developed throughout these experiences. Educational background includes a PhD in Biophysics from the University of California, San Francisco, a Master’s degree in Physics from UC San Diego, and a Bachelor's degree in Physics and Mathematics from Santa Clara University.
