Niel McLean

Niel McLean has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of education and technology. Niel has served as the Chair at the Digital Poverty Alliance since 2022. Prior to this, they were the Head of Education at BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT from 2016. In this role, they played a key role in developing a training program for Computing teachers and establishing the National Centre for Computing Education.

Before joining BCS, McLean worked as the Chair at Learning Foundation, where they focused on transforming the organization into a significant influencer and deliverer of digital inclusion. Niel also established the Digital Poverty Alliance during their tenure. Additionally, they served as the Managing Director at Niel McLean Associates, where they worked with partners globally on projects related to transforming education through technology.

McLean has also held positions at The Tech Partnership, National Foundation for Educational Research, TSL Education, Becta, and QCA. These roles involved leading education initiatives, conducting research, developing national policies, and implementing technology-based programs in schools.
