Catherine Gater

Catherine Gater is a seasoned professional in equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) with extensive experience across various esteemed organizations. Currently serving as the Head of EDI for English & Exams at the British Council, Catherine previously held roles including EDI Programme Manager at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, where multiple working groups on neurodiversity and LGBTQ+ support were chaired. Other significant positions include Diversity Project Officer at the European Bioinformatics Institute, where Catherine led the equality and diversity committee, and Project Manager for Europeana Sounds at The British Library. Additional leadership roles encompass Deputy/Acting Director at Stichting European Grid Initiative and Dissemination Manager at the European Organization for Nuclear Research, among others. Catherine's educational background includes an MSc in Science Communication from Imperial College London and an MA in Metallurgy from the University of Oxford.
