Dusty Miller has a wide range of work experience spanning over three decades. They started their career in the Royal Navy in 1986 as a Lieutenant, where they were responsible for people development and planning large military training events. In 2012, they joined England Rugby as a Training Manager until 2019. Their role involved overseeing training requirements and support. From 2019, Dusty worked at the UK Sports Institute in various roles, including Performance Coach Consultant and Performance Support Mentor. Most recently, in 2021, they joined British Fencing as the Head of People & Culture.

Dusty Miller attended Britannia Royal Naval College in 2010 but did not obtain a degree or specify a field of study. In April 2022, they obtained a certification as an Advanced Practitioner from 6 Team Conditions institution.
