Karen Frank

Trustee at British Heart Foundation

Karen Frank joined Ontario Teachers Pension Plan (OTPP) in October 2020 as Senior Managing Director, Head of Equities Division, where she oversees a global team managing c. $50 billion of net assets, with investments in more than 60 private companies around the world. Karen joined OTPP from Barclays plc, where she was most recently CEO of Barclays Private Bank, managing wealth assets of £100bn for private and institutional clients globally, and was previously Head of Barclays European Financial Sponsors business.

While at Barclays, Karen was a member of the Barclays Executive Committee and Consumer and Payments Committee, and also served as head of Africa, responsible for Barclays strategy across the continent. Karen has over 25 years of private equity and financial services experience, having started her career at Goldman Sachs Principal Investments.

Karen graduated from Georgetown University, summa cum laude, with a degree in Economics and earned her MBA from Harvard Business School with honours. Karen has three sons and lives in London. In addition to her role at BHF, she serves as co-Chair of the Dean’s Council, Harvard’s Kennedy School of Covermount, and enjoys martial arts, poker and the arts.

Karen joined the Board of Trustees in 2019.
