Joanna Xylas, PhD has diverse work experience in the field of biomedical engineering and biosciences. Joanna is currently the Vice President of Market Development at Brixton Biosciences and also a Co-Founder of Materialize Bio. Previously, they served as the Head of Nerve Solutions at TISSIUM, and as the Sr. Director of Professional Affairs & Medical Education at Conformis. Joanna held multiple roles at Integra LifeSciences, including Sr. Manager of Professional Affairs & Medical Education - Surgical Reconstruction and Manager of Professional Affairs & Medical Education - Regenerative Technologies. Before that, they worked as a Senior Scientist of Clinical Sciences & Research at TEI Medical Inc., and as a Product Scientist at TEI Biosciences Inc. Joanna also pursued their PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Tufts University, focusing on cancer cell metabolism and optical biomarkers for disease characterization. Joanna has leadership experience as the Chair of the Boston Graduate Leadership Organization.

Joanna Xylas, PhD obtained their BA and BS in Spanish and Biomedical Engineering from Tufts University, where they also earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering. Joanna attended Tufts University from 2003 to 2007 for their undergraduate studies and from 2007 to 2013 for their doctoral degree.
