Alex Dimsdale has an extensive work experience in communications and journalism. Alex'smost recent role is Director of Communications, Foreign Policy at The Brookings Institution, which they have held since September 2021. Prior to that, they worked as the Editorial Content Director at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace from July 2018 to September 2021. Alex also has experience at the British Council, where they served as the Digital Content Editor from January 2016 to July 2018, and as the Head of Press and Communications from August 2011 to January 2016. Alex has also worked at the Associated Press as a News Producer from February 2011 to August 2011. Additionally, Alex has experience at the BBC News, where they worked as a Broadcast Journalist in the Washington Bureau from October 2010 to January 2011, and as a Broadcast Journalist at BBC World News Television from November 2007 to September 2010. Alex has also worked as a Broadcast Journalist at the BBC World Service from June 2006 to November 2007. Earlier in their career, Alex worked as a Journalist at The Independent, where they wrote features and a weekly regular column from August 2005 to June 2006. Alex also worked as a Paid intern at Marketplace Radio, part of American Public Media, from February 2004 to August 2005.
Alex Dimsdale received a Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Oxford from 1999 to 2002. Later, from 2013 to 2016, Alex pursued a Master's Degree in Poetry from Vermont College of Fine Arts. In addition, Alex earned a Master's Degree in Linguistics from UCL during the academic year 2002-2003.
